While Spring is the ultimate time to deep clean, each season has it’s own to-do list with fall potentially considered the most important.
Gutter Cleaning & Roof Inspection – This should be done twice a year. You want to remove any leaves from your gutters & elbows to prevent clogging that would lead to water damage. Inspect your roof for any signs of required maintenance and for spots that water could get under the shingles and freeze.
Test Your Detectors- Both Smoke and Carbon Monoxide. Test, exchange the batteries and replace any devices that are more than 10 years old.
Change The Direction Of Your Ceiling Fan – help circulate the warm are near the ceiling back around the room to make the space warmer. To help cut heating costs, have them spin clockwise in the Fall and Winter.
Schedule a Furnace Tune-Up – Don’t wait until you need it! Turn on your furnace and pay attention to any noises and odors. If you have done any renovating, make sure to change out your furnace filter more often.
Disconnect And Drain Garden Hoses – A frozen hose can cause the water inside the wall to freeze and burst. Turn off the water supply in the home and leave the tap open for the winter.
Check for Air Leaks – Fix any broken windows, and weatherstrip any doors and windows.
Lawn Maintenance - Clean up your lawn of any fallen leaves, although pretty, leaves can cause heath problems for your grass. Aerating and laying seed will give you a head start in the spring.
Equipment- Start your snow blowers and generators to give them a test.
